I have always enjoyed crafts from a very young age. My mother, sister, grandmothers, aunts, and cousins were/are crafters. Having retired after 40 years of nursing I have embraced my artistic side and find joy in creating. I have never "sold" anything I have made in the past and always just gave my creations away. Now that I have more time on my hands and can't sit still, I have really focused on my crafting. Crafting brings me joy in creating something beautiful that can be shared with others. Crafting has also helped me through the trials and tribulations of life. Keeping my hands busy and my mind focused I have been able to direct my energy positively and not dwell on sadness or things I can't control. I also love creating with my grandchildren now and feel my mother's presence as she was my teacher. I grew up crafting in Girl Scouts with my mother as my Girl Scout leader as well as home crafts that would come in kits I believe once a month (Pack of Fun). My mother was also an amazing cake decorator and made several hundreds of huge wedding cakes (the ones with fountains, etc.)
Looking forward to this next stage in my life and living my best life. Ann Gilbertson, Curator-Annie's Craft Boutique
